This little Sequoia National Park micro wedding is one I know I’ll remember for a long time.
When these two reached out, I loved their vision right away. They didn’t want a big, traditional wedding. They wanted a day that felt like them, a day built around what they love most: hiking, exploring, and spending time outdoors together.
And that is exactly what they created.
They chose Trail of 100 Giants and Dome Rock because those places represented a large part of who they are. Their wedding day was an adventure, a celebration, and a reflection of the life they’ve built together.
Their closest family members traveled from all over, including other countries, to be there for them. From the moment I arrived, I felt how much love surrounded this couple. Their family was truly one of the kindest and sweetest families I have ever met and I fully believe the presence of the Lord was there. They welcomed me in, celebrated wholeheartedly, and made the entire day feel warm and special.
Every detail of this wedding was personal. Nothing was chosen just because it looked pretty (although, let’s be honest, it was all pretty too). The bride made the ceramic flower pots herself. Her sister created her bouquet using fresh sage from the bride’s own garden. Where the brides dress came from was part of her character. Even the beer they chose was a little piece of who they are. Every little touch felt intentional and completely true to them.
I looooved photographing them at the Trail of 100 Giants! I wish we had more than the hour we did because I honestly could have stayed there with them for hours. The lighting was absolutely incredible. The sun was shining through the giant sequoias and pines, everything was glowing with that perfect golden warmth, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The weather was comfortably warm with just enough of a breeze to make everything feel peaceful and effortless. The only thing less than perfect was me slightly freaking out about bugs landing on my shoulders. Thank goodness I wasn't overreacting... *ahem* Anyway.
This wedding was a beautiful reminder that your wedding day doesn’t have to look a certain way. It doesn’t have to be about a guest count or checking off a list of traditions. It can be hiking through the forest, standing on a mountain surrounded by the people you love most, and celebrating a life you’re excited to continue building together.
I’m so grateful I got to be a small part of this day and capture a wedding that was so uniquely, wonderfully them.
